Abbie Wood

Abigail grew up in the beautiful town of Chichester which is situated in the South of England. In 2010, her studies took her to Glasgow where she began her dance training at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, delivered in partnership with Scottish Ballet.  During her time at University she worked with various companies and choreographers which include, Rambert, Scottish Ballet, Scottish Dance Theatre, Christopher Marney and Hubert Essakow. In Abigail's final year she performed lead roles during her Graduate tour and in the 'Rite of Spring' 100th year anniversary, which was created in collaboration with BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and Glasgow School of Art. Abigail was also selected by Ashley Page during her third year to perform with Scottish Ballet for the Sleeping Beauty Production. 

 

In 2013, Abigail graduated with a BA Degree and began her professional career at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival performing under the direction of Sophia Lycouris. Abigail continued to work with Lycouris on various projects in Edinburgh collaborating with variety of artists, musicians, and videographers. This then led into performing as a soloist during 'Dance Hunt' with City moves in Aberdeen Scotland.

 

Abigail’s next venture took her to Scottish ballet’s successful Education Department. She began working with the education team on their various projects that interacts with the young aspiring dancers in and around Scotland. From here, Abigail then joined the Scottish Ballet Associate Teaching team where she was a regular guest teacher. She has also taught ballet and contemporary at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Dance House Glasgow, and Dance HQ Glasgow. Abigail then managed the Young Dancer casts for Scottish Ballet's Christmas season productions, The Nutcracker, Hansel and Gretel and Cinderella. This involved teaching and rehearsing the choreography, administration with Scottish Ballet staff and guardians of the children in the production, and chaperoning.

 

At this point, Abigail decided to put her energy and focus into creating The_Grit Dance Company. Abigail spent two years creating the small project dance company and networked with many artists in Scotland. Her choreography premiered at Glasgow's Art Festival at Maryhill Burgh Halls. 

 

Abigail has since gone on to gain her Yoga Teaching qualification with FITT and created her own Yoga company. 

 

Abigail is now currently working with the Walt Disney Company where she is working in Orlando, Florida as a Cultural Representative. She has recently become a Disney Trainer and been awarded with the Quarterly Award. Abigail is working in the Merchandise area as a Cultural Representative in the United Kingdom Pavilion in Epcot WDW, on a day to day Abigail performs and enjoys the interaction with each guest that visits the park, she is faced with positive experiences as well as challenges and they lead her to a stronger individual. The opportunity for Abigail to meet guests and discuss her culture and learn something from theirs builds much confidence and knowledge as well as making Abigail a better and further inspired individual. Abigail continually interacts and works well with her Leaders and Coordinators and continues to aim high and push for the best from herself as well as the shop she is working in, Abigail has volunteered as part of Disney Voluntears and continuously makes magical memories for each guest visiting her no matter what age. Abigail has joined different committees within her area and continues to strive for perfection and to go above and beyond people's expectations. This experience will continue to encourage Abigail to grow and achieve.
